Sound is a 9 year-old TB stallion from Germany trained by Mike Moroney, who is based at Flemington, Australia. Given that Sound has won at Group 1 level and has amassed $1,750,617 in career earnings, Sound is regarded as a very talented racehorse.

Sound was treated in 2019 with Arthramid Vet. His veterinarian explains “We treated both front fetlocks in December 2019 which correlates with his turn around in form in February and March 2020. He was treated again in June 2020 (fetlocks) and July 2020 (left front tendon sheath) after a flare of synovitis (joint swelling). Within 3 weeks both fetlocks and tendon sheath were tight and his action terrific. He went on to run 2nd in the Lexus🥈and win the G2 Zipping Classic🥇(5+ months after injection). I do not believe we could have kept him sound without the use of Arthramid. Not only did he perform well but he maintained soundness and his action improved throughout the preparation”.

After winning the Zipping Classic, Sound headed to New Zealand;
20 Feb 2021 2nd G2 Avondale Cup (2400m) 🥈
13 Mar 2021 3rd G1 Auckland Cup (3200m) 🥉

His last three runs back in Australia this 2021/22 season have also been impressive;
23 Oct 2021 3rd G2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup 🥉
06 Nov 2021 2nd G3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes 🥈
27 Nov 2021 1st G2 Zipping Classic 🥇

Connections are now planning to bring Sound back for a final New Zealand campaign with the likelihood of him then retiring to stud. Trainer Mike Moroney said “what delighted me the most is that when treated early in the preparation Arthramid maintained his soundness throughout multiple arduous training and racing campaigns and his joints have never looked better. Welfare in racing is paramount in this current environment so by waiving the need to use cortisone and avoiding risks of its adverse effects I have more confidence in keeping my horse’s sound. From a training perspective I am getting more races into a campaign and stronger performances through to the end. It’s fantastic for my horses, my owners and my team.”

We wish Sound all the very best for his upcoming races. Anyone wanting to know more about Arthramid Vet or how it might help their horses should feel free to talk to their veterinarian, get in contact with us, or check out our articles and blogs on the website www.arthramid.com.au. Arthramid Vet is clinically proven to treat joint pain and lameness in over 83% of cases, and is longer lasting and superior to any other treatment.

Arthramid Vet is a registered medicine and is administered directly into the joint by a suitably qualified veterinarian. After injection into the joint the gel acts as a bio-scaffold enabling the formation of a thick, cushion-like subsynovial layer traversed by new blood vessels and thin strands of connective tissue with a new and hypercellular synovial (joint) cell lining. Studies have shown stabilisation and repair of the damage to the joint caused by osteoarthritis and an associated reduction in pain with a return of the joint to healthy function.
